More Information

Our Roots in the Village

Hanwood Bowling Club was formed in 1924 and is believed to have been built by local miners, reflecting the strong community spirit of the village at the time. Although early records are limited, the club’s beginnings closely link to the history of the local coal mine and the people who shaped Hanwood.
